Morden residents have been given some extra time to pay their water bills for the past cycle.

An error in how water usage was recorded resulted in a hefty charge to some ratepayers, in some instances double or triple what they normally paid.

It appears some past billings that were estimated readings were being logged as actual readings. That resulted in some residents having to pay more to catch up to their actual usage.

The due date to pay the bill was April 14th, but city council has passed a resolution that waived all late payment fees and extended the due date for another three months to allow residents some time to catch up on the outstanding amounts.

The city is encouraging those residents to make incremental payments over the next three months to keep their accounts up to date.
