Rural residents have expressed their concerns over cellular and Internet service connections.

Portage-Lisgar riding MP Candice Bergen says they are aware of many locations throughout the riding where cell service drops, and families and businesses who don't have access to dependable Internet.

Bergen says a solution does involve government, but it also requires the private sector to step up.

"If we want to continue to develop and expand, which we're really good at... we're really good at creating small businesses in Southern Manitoba, those businesses, those families need dependable cell service as well as Internet providers."

Bergen says it's exceedingly inconvenient when you're in the middle of an urgent call or need to place an order, and you're service drops, and ultimately it isn't fair that Internet and cell service works in urban centres while rural areas are having such a difficult time.
