Manitoba Public Insurance has launched a new campaign urging people to report cases of insurance fraud.

Randy Bell, Manager of MPI's Special Investigation Unit, says investigations last year saved ratepayers $12.5 million.

He says those numbers could climb even higher if more Manitobans would use their tips line.

Bell explains some of the most common cases they see are staged accidents, phony hit and run claims and exaggerated claims on hail damage.

He asks people with information on auto insurance fraud to call 1-877-985-8477.
