The abandoned Canada Customs building at Emerson is getting another lease on life, this time as a livestock inspection station.

A company known as Facility Management has purchased the building.

It intends to set up a livestock inspection operation that could house inspectors from both Canada and the U.S.

Emerson Mayor Elmer Penner says town council is excited about the project.

Council has approved a conditional use permit to allow the project to move forward.

A spokesman with Facility Management company declined to comment on the project at this time.
