The Morden Fire Department finally has its new heavy rescue unit in their hall.

Fire Chief Andy Thiessen says they've been waiting some time.

He says they were actually to have it in their possession last October but things out of their control kept coming up.

Thiessen says they put a page out to the members when the unit arrived over the long weekend.

He says they are all excited,  and are busy getting it ready to display to the public during the Corn and Apple Festival parade.

Thiessen adds there are a few other minor details they need to take care of before it can be put into service.

This new unit was more than the department was bargaining for, because  it came with extra features at an affordable price.

Thiessen says they were planning on installing things like the roof lighting system anyway but now they don't need to worry about it.
