There will be no cuts in funding to the Pembina Valley Adult Language program.

The federal government has announced about $17 million in cuts to literacy organizations across the country.

Program Coordinator Lori Sawatzky says those cuts are directed towars literacy research projects and not programs.

She says that's a huge relief as demand for language services in the region continues to grow each year with over 315 students enrolled this year.

Sawatzky says they have been forced to develop a waiting list.

She adds their struggle right now is trying to keep class sizes manageable.
