July 17, 2006 Star 7 International would like the province to look at group applications for the nominee program. Owner Adele Dyck says at this time a group of families may want to move to Manitoba and settle in the same area, but the province will only look at the applications on an individual basis. Dyck says the province has the ability to make the policy changes to allow for group applications. She says this would be a more efficient way of bringing immigrants into Manitoba under the nominee program, which is not being maxed out at this time. Consultant Karl Redekop adds, a group of families moving into rural communities has the ability to boost the local economy and help with the labour shortage. He adds the group of families would also create a mutual support group for each other.
