The Sommerfeld Mennonite Church Senior Youth in Altona are paying it forward.

It started when the youth wanted to do more mission work.

Tim Klassen and Melissa Friesen thought the idea of donating to Winnipeg Harvest was perfect.

The youth have planted a two acre plot with over 2,000 pounds of vegetables for the organization.

Friesen says they chose potatoes, carrotts and onions because those are the most in demand by the Harvest.

She adds all the land, seed and chemical was donated to the youth group.

Friesen says they plan on taking the group to the soup kitchen at Winnipeg Harvest to show everyone were their work was going to and that people are benefiting off it.
