This summer twelve Manitobans whose contributions encompass a broad range of endeavours and accomplishments will receive the Order of Manitoba, the province’s highest honour.Today, we want to celebrate Doris Mae Oulton. A prominent advocate for women’s rights, Doris has made many important contributions to Manitoba’s life and culture. She is currently chair of the Nellie McClung Foundation and the Canadian Federation of University Women Charitable Trust, and was the former assistant deputy minister of the Manitoba Women’s Directorate. Her community contributions have been recognized locally and internationally, for their significance.

On-air host Jayme Giesbrecht called Doris, to find out her reaction to this honour:

Doris has been working towards equal rights for women, for decades -- and Jayme asked her what changes or improvements she's seen over the years.

Doris Mae Oulton is well-deserving of the Order of Manitoba title. The formal investiture ceremony is tentatively scheduled for July 15th at the Manitoba Legislative Building.
