Organic producers wanting to market their grain for a pooled return that includes an organic premium are getting their wish.

The Canadian Wheat Board and Canadian Organic Certification Co-operative have formed a partnership to offer a pilot organic wheat pool.

C.W.B. Organic Marketing Manager Donna Youngdahl says the payment structure will be similar to the established pools except an organic premium will be tacked on.

This fall the board will offer an organic delivery contract for high quality milling wheat, number one and two with high protein levels.

Youngdahl notes the board will also consider programs for lower grades of wheat, depending on crop conditions and market opportunities.
