Brad Wildeman, Vice President of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association is not surprised by the move, but is disappointed.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has pulled from review the over thiry month rule which would have allowed older Canadian cattle to be exported to the States.

American officials indicate questions surrounding Canada's latest case of B.S.E. in a 50 month old dairy cow from Alberta as the reason.

Brad Wildeman, Vice President of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association is not surprised by the move, but is disappointed.

He notes Canadian officials have indicated once the U.S.D.A. has the final report on the latest case, and there's nothing unusual, they will put the over thirty month rule back on track.

Wildeman feels the withdrawl may delay implementation of the rule by a couple of months.

He stresses though, no one really expected trade in older animals to begin until some time in 2007.
