Organizers say now, more than ever, people need to share kindness in our communities.

The Winkler Community Foundation, in partnership with the Morden Area Foundation, is encouraging residents to do something helpful or encouraging for their neighbour as part of the 2020 Pay it Forward campaign.

"People are still doing kind things, they're staying connected, but we just want to bump it up a notch and remind people some are struggling financially, but they're also struggling mentally and emotionally too," Winkler Community Foundation's Julia Blais says. "So now's the time to gather together and help each other out."

To get involved, residents are asked to share their random acts of kindness on social media using the hashtag #pifmay and tag the Winkler or Morden community foundations to spur on the kindness.

Blais says they've already seen a positive response from people. "It's crazy to see how many people are just willing to get involved without us even asking."

"Sharing this good news is just what people need," she says. "The older I get, the more proud I am of Winkler and just raising kids here, it makes such a difference to see how our community all just works together and tries to help others."
