Tory Highways critic Jack Penner is accusing Premier Gary Doer of ignoring southeast Manitoba when it comes to infrastructure.

Penner is referring to the bridge closure on PR 200 at Dominion City and the deteriorating condition of the Red River bridge at Letellier.

He says the province has allowed the region's infrastructure to deteriorate to a deplorable condition, which is now impacting the area economically.

The province is erecting a temporary bridge at Dominion City to allow traffic to resume across the Roseau River.

Penner says it's unfortunate an emergency situation has to arise for the government to take notice.
