It's been a busy last couple weeks for the Municipality of Rhineland, and that includes Reeve Don Wiebe who joined CFAM Radio 950 Morning Show Host Chris Sumner Thursday morning for another Reeve on the Radio.

Last week Don, members of council and administration attended the Association of Manitoba Municipalities annual Spring Convention and Tradeshow in Brandon, and it was a particular piece of equipment at the tradeshow that's piqued the interest of the municipality's Public Works department and Wiebe.

"For me, one of the heavy equipment machines that was on display was a washboard rake and scraper," he shared. "We have a lot of washboards and this was intriguing. This equipment was used to level a washboard, and could be towed by a big truck. Hopefully we can get a demo, and that would help us with our some of the complaints we get about our roads."

Last week also included Council's annual meetings with the Local Urban District (LUD) councils for Gretna, Rosenfeld and Plum Coulee.

"It was an opportunity for L.U.D. members to talk about community aspirations and concerns," said Wiebe. "Discussion topics included housing, policing, mill rates, immigration, economic development and infrastructure, and particularly wastewater lagoons in all three L.U.D.'s. The format was informal, and the Council members and the L.U.D. members had an opportunity to exchange perspectives and concerns. Although there's a lot of common issues, each of the L.U.D.s have their own unique challenges."

Wiebe noted it was very clear the L.U.D. members are enthusiastic advocates for their respective communities.
