Forty police officers from across Manitoba were in Altona last week.

The town hosted the Manitoba Association of Police Chiefs Conference.

Winkler Police Chief Rick Hiebert says the officers came from several communities from as far as Brandon and Winnipeg.

He says committees such as traffic, professional development, and Aboriginal Policing updated the group.

Several issues and ideas were addressed including the concerns regarding the Pawn Brokers Act and the lack of legislation involved.

Hiebert says the Association also discussed erecting a permanent memorial for fallen officers in Manitoba.
