Winkler Police are investigating the theft of two catalytic converters, and a set of four wheels and tires from a local business.

Police say the theft from the business, located on Pembina Avenue, happened during the early morning hours of Monday, May 30th.

Catalytic converter thefts have been on the rise across the province, with RCMP and local police services reporting an up tick in reported incidents in recent months.

In a previous story with PembinaValleyOnline, Manitoba RCMP Sergeant Paul Manaigre says the issue is not going away in our province, and because of very high metal prices, thefts continue to be a problem.

According to Manaigre, this has been a real issue in Manitoba for about the last year or so. As metal prices keep climbing, there is increased demand for thieves.

Anyone with information regarding the May 30th theft is asked to contact the Winkler police service.
