The search for 9-year-old Cornell Nelson has come to a successful end.

According to the Winkler Police Service, the Winkler boy has been found safe after an extensive search that included assistance from the Morden Police Service, Winkler Fire Department and Pembina Triangle Search and Rescue. No other details are known at this time. 

The boy walked away from his home Tuesday evening in Winkler, and had last been seen about an hour later.

The Winkler Police Service thanks all those who helped spread the word on social media, searched the community and called in tips.

New surveillance footage provided by Hi-Way Groceteria from Tuesday evening reveals Nelson may be riding a bicycle and wearing an orange and grey shirt.

Police ask residents to call 204-325-9990 if they see Nelson.

Police are looking to the public to help them find 9 year old Cornell Nelson. The boy walked away from his home Tuesday evening between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. He was last seen at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the area of 6th Street South and Southview Drive.

Nelson is described as an Indigenous male, 4’10” and approximately 80 pounds. He has brown eyes and short black hair. He was last seen wearing blue sweat pants and a blue jacket.

Police are actively searching for Nelson with assistance from the Winkler Fire Department as well as Pembina Triangle Ground Search and Rescue.

Police are asking residents and business owners to check their properties for Nelson, including outbuildings and vehicles.
