Police are encouraging residents to remain vigilant after another victim lost money to a gift card scam.

June 26, a female reported that she received a phone call from someone claiming that two unauthorized foreign transactions were made on her credit card account. She was advised that she would be reimbursed for an amount much larger than the transactions, and she would need to send the difference via Google Play gift cards.

She proceeded to purchase a large amount of gift cards and provided the caller with the numbers on the backs of the cards.

Police say she had since contacted her bank, cancelled her credit card and is out the money.
