The MLA for Minnedosa took her message of grandparents' rights to a public meeting in Selkirk yesterday.

Leanne Rowat wants grandparents to have better access to grandchildren in the event of a family breakdown.

Her two private members bills on the issue have failed to pass, so she is taking the matter to the people.

Rowat plans to try a third time in the next legislative session.

About 40 people attended the meeting, and Rowat chose Selkirk because there has been a lot of support from that area.

However, she intends to hold similar gatherings throughout the province over the next few months.
