Thursday morning, Scott Siemens, Reeve for the R.M. of Morris, joined CFAM Radio 950 Morning Show Host Chris Sumner for the final Reeve on the Radio of 2023.

The two looked back at a couple of completed, or nearly finished projects, and also look forward to 2024 and what's to come for the municipality.

"I want to say I appreciate the patience our ratepayers have had, and the travellers that use that road, and wanted to remind everyone to be safe as the shoulders maybe aren't perfect everywhere," said Siemens when talking about the Highway 23 work between Morris and Lowe Farm which was mostly completed before freeze up. "Having said that, we will do the best we can, and they (Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure), will plan on finishing it next year."

Record housing starts in 2023, 35 over the course of the year across the R.M., may continue into next year, and that means serious discussion about the second phase of the Prairie Hearth Development on the south side of Rosenort.

"As of right now there is significant demand for more of our smaller lot sizes, so we are looking at likely having to open phase two next year," he explained. "So that will require more dirt work in getting the lots ready for sale, hopefully, by the tail end of next year (2024), and with that is more infrastructure requirements."
