The R.M. of Morris has paved they way for wind energy.

Yesterday council gave second and third reading to a bylaw that will allow for wind energy to be produced on most agriculture lands in the R.M.

Reeve Herm Martens says there would be many advantages to having a wind farm in the municipality.

According to CEO Ernest Buhler, a 60 turbine wind farm would put more tax dollars into the R.M. than 20 new hog barns.

Bob Spensley, president of Sequoia Energy, attended the meeting.

He says Sequoia has a successful wind farm at St. Leon, and is considering a project in southern Manitoba.
