The Canadian Grain Commission is in the midst of conducting its annual fall harvest survey.

Spokesperson Andrea Geary says the goal is to identify the quality profile of the crops grown in Western Canada.

She notes the testing regime the samples go through is dependent on type of grain.

An unofficial grade and protein level is given in all cases, but oil content is available for canola and flax as well.

The information gathered is then made available through the Commission's website to industry officials, plus potential buyers of western canadian grain.

Growers who submit a sample will also receive an analysis.
