Some of the themes included the fact the board needs to be given the chance to succeed in a dual marketing environment, and the marketplace is ready for this type of change.

Many themes came through at the federal government's roundtable on marketing choice held yesterday in Saskatoon.

Three rounds of discussion took place focusing on the future role of the Canadian Wheat Board, its corporate structure in a dual marketing environment, and what financial tools it will need to be successful.

Agriculutre Minister Chuck Strahl says there was a strong consensus a wheat board is necessary, but farmers need more choice when it comes to marketing their grain.

Some of the themes included the fact the board needs to be given the chance to succeed in a dual marketing environment, the marketplace is ready for this type of change, and all stakeholders need certainty as the industry moves towards marketing choice.

The results of the roundtable will be summarized and used in additional consultations to be held in the future.
