Winkler Chamber President Betty Hiebert addresses the crowd

 

The Winkler and District Chamber of Commerce held its annual small business week luncheon yesterday. One of the businesses highlighted was Janzen's Paint and Decorating .

 

The business was started in 1992, and is owned by husband and wife team Doug and Lori Janzen. Recent highlights for the company include several expansions to its Winkler location, which now currently stands at 8,000 square feet. The addition of Brandon (2001) and Steinbach (1999) locations, and the inclusion of a hobby section at each site that offers games, models, and other pass times.


Doug Janzen noted in his presentation that listening to your customers is the key to success.

Grandeur Housing was also highlighted. Based in Winkler Grandeur Housing is a leader in manufactured and modular home production, as well as commercial and industrial buildings. It currently employs approximately 150 people, and operates out of 153,000 square feet of space. General Manager John Froese took some time to talk about the company's special products division, and opportunities for growth.

The Winkler Flyers were the third business on this year's agenda, and General Manager Henry Siemens represented the hockey club at the luncheon. During his presentation he gave an outline of the challenges the club has faced in years gone by, but also the successes.

Winkler and District Chamber of Commerce President Betty Hiebert noted during the event its was the largest crowd ever, coming in at nearly 200 people.
