The Winkler Whips will face the Morden Mud Hens in the Border Baseball League's East Division final. Josh Ginter singled  home the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Whips edged the Altona Bisons 4-3 Thursday night in the third and deciding game of their opening round series. The Cartwright Twins host the defending champion Pilot Mound Pilots tonight (6:45 p.m.) in game one of their West Division final.


Baseball Manitoba's Provincial 13U Tier One and Tier Two AAA Championships are on this weekend in Altona.  South Central will meet Red River and Bonivital today. The Provincial 15U Tier One and Tier Two AAA Championships are in Brandon. South Central will face North Winnipeg and Bonivital.


Central Energy recorded its first win Thursday at Softball Canada's National U19 Women's Championship in Fredericton. Central Energy shutout the host New Brunswick Selects 6-0. Central Energy is 1-3 and will play its last two round robin games today against PEI and Calgary Kaizen - Black.


Addison Kartusch of Winnipeg is in a tie for 26th place heading into the final round of the 67th Canadian Junior Girls Championship at The Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa. Kartusch was even par 72 Thursday and is plus nine through 54 holes. Clara Peake of Binscarth was 76 and is plus 16 and Jeri Lafleche of Winnipeg was 77 and is plus 18.Yeji Kwon of Port Coquitlam is minus nine and has a four shot lead over Erin Lee of Langley.


The 117th Canadian Men's Amateur Golf Championship begins Saturday at the Point Grey Golf & Country Club in Vancouver and the Seymour Golf & Country Club in North Vancouver. Eight Manitobans are in the field including Brent Ingram, Curtis Markusson, Jack Werhun, Jordy Lutz, Marco Trstenjak, Nathan Wazney, Ryan McMillan and Troy Kehler.
