The Altona Bisons and Winnipeg South Wolves split a doubleheader Sunday at Access Field. Logan Erb snapped a 2-2 tie with a two-out grand slam in the top of the sixth inning as the Wolves won the opener 9-2. The Bisons plated five runs in the bottom of the first and took the second game 8-6. Altona starter Connor Cory struck out eight over five-and-two-thirds innings of work. The Pembina Valley Orioles lost 10-0 and 6-0 to the defending Manitoba Junior Baseball League champion Elmwood Giants at Koskie Field.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes gave up two runs in the first, second and fifth innings and lost 7-0 to the Lincoln Saltdogs at Shaw Park. The Fish wrapped up their six-game homestand with three wins and three losses. Winnipeg will begin a six-game road trip Tuesday in Texas when they meet the Cleburne Railroaders. 


Tyler Mislawchuk will bring home a silver medal from the World Cup sprint triathlon in Huatulco, Mexico. The 27-year-old Oak Bluff native and two-time Olympian finished one second behind Genis Grau of Spain. The triathlon featured a 750-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike ride and five-kilometer run. Mislawchuk finished 15th at the Tokyo Olympics. 


The Winnipeg Ice will play four preseason games before the start of the 2022-23 Western Hockey League season. The Ice will play two games each against the Brandon Wheat Kings and Regina Pats. Winnipeg opens their preseason schedule Friday, September 9th in Brandon. The two teams return to The RINK Training Centre in Winnipeg on Saturday, September 10th. The Ice then travel to Regina Thursday, September 15th. Winnipeg will play its exhibition finale on Saturday, September 17th against the Pats at The RINK Training Centre.
