Mike Svenson, Zach Nicolas and Trent Penner scored power play goals in the Winkler Flyers 4-2 victory over the Neepawa Titans at the Centennial Arena. Trent Sambrook also scored for the Flyers who received a 28-save performance from Malachi Klassen.


Pembina Valley gave up five second period goals and lost 6-2 to the River East Royal Knights. Riley Goertzen and Kyle Van Deynze did the goal scoring for the Twisters.


Sebastien Hicks scored the go-ahead goal with 4:41 left as Pembina Valley edged the Parkland Rangers 5-4. Liam Goertzen, Cedrik Robidoux, Carter Campbell and Kam Thomas also scored for the Hawks. Thomas’ power play goal 9:49 into the third period tied the game at 4-4 after the Rangers scored twice in the first five minutes of the final frame to grab a 4-3 lead.


Oakley Peters and Marshall Braun scored three goals each and Logan Krahn made 20 saves as the Miller Aces blanked the Mountain Mustangs 12-0 in the lone Zone 4 High School Hockey League game. Tyson Froese and Tyson Tarnick added two goals each for the Aces while the rest went to Griffin Hildebrand and Reece Fehr.


The Brandon Wheat Kings and Winnipeg Ice both lost road games Friday night. Calder Anderson scored 83 seconds into the first period but the Warriors scored the next five as Moose Jaw defeated Brandon 5-1. Dominion City’s Denton Mateychuk had a pair of assists for the Warriors. Connor McClennon scored the lone goal for the Ice in their 2-1 loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes.


The Manitoba Moose fell 2-1 to the Toronto Marlies at Canada Life Centre. Leon Gawanke scored for the Moose with 64 seconds left in the third period to cut the Marlies lead to 2-1.


Jennifer Jones and Kaitlyn Lawes are both 6-0 and have clinched two of the three spots in the Playoff Round at the 2023 Provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts in East St. Paul. Beth Peterson is 5-1 and needs to win one of her remaining two games to join Jones and Lawes. The first place team after the completion of today’s 4 p.m. draw will earn a bye to the final Sunday afternoon while the second and third place teams will play in the semifinal tomorrow morning.
