The Winkler Flyers scored four second period goals en route to a 7-3 victory over the Niverville Nighthawks at the Centennial Arena. Dalton Andrew had a four-point night with three goals and an assist for the Flyers. Jakob Jones scored twice while Nich McKee and Trent Penner had the other Winkler goals.


Merek Degraeve scored is 19th and 20th goals of the season as the Pembina Valley Twisters beat the Fort Gary/Fort Rouge Twins 5-3. Colton Wiebe, Cohen Thomas and Brett Bergman also scored for the Twisters who extended their winning streak to seven games.


The Pembina Valley Hawks lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Eastman Selects. Haiden Friesen’s second goal of the game on the power play with 57 seconds left in the third period tied the game at 3-3. Ryder Wolfe had the other Hawks goal.


The United States downed host Sweden 6-2 in the gold medal game at the 2024 World Junior Hockey Championship in Gothenburg. Czechia beat Finland 8-5 in the bronze medal game. The 2025 World Juniors will be held in Ottawa.


The 2024 World Women's U18 Hockey Championship begins today in Zug, Switzerland. Canada will play its preliminary round opener this afternoon at 1pm against Germany. Defender Avery Pickering of St. Adolphe and forward Sara Manness of La Salle are on Team Canada’s roster.


Brandon’s Kristen Campbell made 29 saves and Ste. Anne’s Jocelyne Larocque assisted on Emma Maltais’ shorthanded go-ahead goal 6:34 into the third period as Toronto defeated New York 3-2 in the lone PWHL game.


First place in the NHL belongs to the Winnipeg Jets. Laurent Brossoit made 38 saves as Winnipeg defeated the Anaheim Ducks 3-1. Nikolaj Ehlers, Nate Schmidt with his first of the season and Cole Perfetti did the goal scoring for the Jets who have won five in a row and extended their points streak to a franchise-record 11 games. Winnipeg is 25-9-4 and will wrap up its three-game road on Sunday against the Arizona Coyotes.


It's day three of CurlManitoba's Provincial U18 Championships at the Selkirk Curling Club. Shaela Hayward of Carman has a 3-0 record, Dayna Wahl of Altona is 2-1. Rylan Campbell of Altona and Nash Sugden of Morden are both 3-0.
