The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are still perfect. Carlton Agudosi caught two touchdown passes in his CFL debut as Winnipeg defeated Calgary 26-19 Friday night in front of over 30,000 IG Field. Zach Collaros completed 27 of 38 for 315 yards. Greg Ellingson caught 11 passes for 152 yards. Bombers defensive back Demerio Houston sealed the victory with an interception on a pass that bounced off the hands of Stampeders receiver Kamar Jordan in the end zone in the final minute. The Bombers, who have won 12 straight home games improved to 6-0.


Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend and Addison Kartusch of St. Charles are the 2022 provincial junior golf champions. Kuntz fired a final round eight under par 64 Friday at the St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg and finished with a 54-hole total of 13-under par 203. Grady Chuback of St. Charles, who was tied with Kuntz for top spot after round two, finished 11 shots back in second place. Kartusch was 76 yesterday and finished at 225. Kartusch was 13 shots clear of Crystal Zamzow of Swan River. Five Carman golfers competed at the Provincial Juniors. Ryan Orchard (79) finished at 242; Ben Chornomydz (83) was 255; India Young (89) was 264; Reid North (90) was 280 and Keira Krahn (101) was 282. Bijan Salimi of Morden (82) was 258.


The Winnipeg Jets agreed to terms with defenseman Ashton Sautner on a one-year, two-way contract with an average annual value in the NHL of $750,000. The 28-year-old Flin Flon native played 41 games for the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks in 2021-22. The Jets also signed their 2022 second-round pick (55th overall) defenseman Elias Salomonsson to a three-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value in the NHL of $950,000.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes were outhit 18-5 and lost 15-1 to the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Thomas Walraven had two of the RailCats five home runs.


Baseball Manitoba's Provincial AA championships are on this weekend. Morden is competing at the 11U championship in Winnipeg; host Morden and Altona are at the 13U championship; Winkler and Morden are at the 15U championship in Hamiota and Altona is at the 18U championship in Brandon. The Border Baseball League All-Stars will be competing at the Provincial Senior AA All-Stars Championship in Morden. Softball Manitoba Provincial Championships on this weekend include the U15 A in Winkler; the U17 AAA in Friedensfeld and the U19 AAA in Portage.
