The Winkler Flyers will have the number one overall pick when the 2022 Manitoba Junior Hockey League Draft begins at 3 p.m. The Flyers dealt forward Ryan Monais and their first round pick which is 9th overall to OCN for the first overall pick and the Blizzard’s second round pick which is 14th overall.


Portage Collegiate will face Stonewall in the semifinals of the Provincial High School Baseball Championship in Brandon. The Trojans defeated Brandon Vincent Massey 19-9 in the quarterfinals. The Garden Valley Zodiacs were 0-2 in the round robin and did not qualify for the playoffs.


Carman/Miami went 0-3 at the Provincial High School Fastpitch Championship in Brandon. The Cougars lost 7-1 to Boissevain and 8-3 to Beliveau in the round robin. In the playoffs the Zone 4 champions fell 10-0 to Stonewall as the Rams advanced to the quarterfinals.


Maddux Mateychuk singled home a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning as the Altona Bisons defeated the St. Boniface Legionaires 7-5 at Whittier Park. Connor Cory picked up the win. He went seven innings and struck out 13 Legionaires. Dillan Thiessen picked up the save. Kaeden Siwak had three doubles and three rbi for St. Boniface.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes gave up four two-out runs in the top of the seventh inning and lost 10-8 to the Lincoln Saltdogs. Max Murphy homered twice for the Fish who lead 5-0 after the first inning.


India Young of Carman will face Clara Peake of Binscarth today in the round of 16 in the Women's Division at the Provincial Match Play Championship at Quarry Oaks near Steinbach.


The University of Manitoba Bisons men's golf team finished the Canadian University/College Golf Championship in Bromont, Quebec in 17th place. Stefan Lavallee finished at plus five, Connor Stewart was plus 18, Cole Peters and Brent Ingram were plus 20 and Lachlan Allerton was plus 37.
