The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have clinched a home playoff game. The defending Grey Cup champions scored 14 unanswered fourth quarter points and defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 31-13 Friday at IG Field. Zach Collaros threw two touchdown passes to Nic Demski and one each to Rasheed Bailey and Dalton Schoen. Schoen finished the night with eight catches for 125 yards and became the seventh Bombers rookie to eclipse the 1,000 yards receiving mark in a season. His 11th touchdown of the season set a CFL record for rookie receivers. Brady Oliveira carried the ball 15 times for 101 yards. The Winnipeg defense forced three turnovers on downs, a fumble a had two interceptions. The CFL West Division leading Blue Bombers improved to 13-2. The B.C. Lions are next at 10-4. The Calgary Stampeders are in third place at 9-5.


The Winkler Flyers dropped a 3-2 decision to the Wolverines in Waywayseecappo. Brody Beauchemin and Trent Penner did the goal scoring for the Flyers who host the Wolverines on Sunday afternoon.


The Pembina Valley Twisters lost their season opener 5-3 to the Jets in Stonewall. Jacob Carels, Caelan Russell and Derek Wiebe scored for the Twisters who play their home opener Sunday in Morris against the defending Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League champion St. James Canucks.


The Pembina Valley Hawks lost their season opener 4-3 in overtime to the defending Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League champion Winnipeg Wild at Bell MTS Iceplex. Sebastien Hicks, Ryder Wolfe and Marek Miller did the goal scoring for the Hawks.

Daniel Hauser stopped all 27 shots he faced and Zach Benson had two goals and an assist as the Winnipeg Ice blanked the Swift Current Broncos 5-0. Tonight the Ice face the Tigers in Medicine Hat and the Brandon Wheat Kings host the Moose Jaw Warriors. Last night Dominion City’s Denton Mateychuk had three assists in the Warriors 4-3 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders.


The Winnipeg Jets play their fourth of six exhibition games tonight then they meet the Edmonton Oilers at Canada Life Centre. The Jets are coming off a 4-3 victory over the Canadiens in Montreal on Thursday.


Alek Manoah won his 16th game of the season as the Toronto Blue Jays shutout the Boston Red Sox 9-0 at Rogers Centre. George Springer. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Raimel Tapia homered for the Blue Jays who have five games left. Seattle and Tampa Bay clinched wildcard berths Friday night. Toronto is one-and-a-half games ahead of the Mariners and two games up on the Rays in the race for the first wildcard spot in the American League.
