Tyler Swerdyliak scored twice and Josh Beauchemin had three assists as the Ile des Chenes Northstars defeated the defending SEMHL champion Warren Mercs 5-3. Derik Cook, Kevin Lamb and Matthew Osadick also scored for the Northstars who are 2-0 to start the season. James Maxwell, Braden Groot and Eric Swanson replied for the Mercs. Keith Grondin scored with one second left in regulation to lift the Ste. Anne Aces past the Winkler Royals 3-2. Caleb Paisley and Owen Blocker had the other Aces goals. Remi Laurencelle and Mitch Doell scored for the Royals.


Cole Patenaude scored in overtime to lift the Pembina Tigers past the Miller Aces 3-2 in the lone Zone 4 High School Hockey League game. Max Jago had both goals in regulation for the Tigers. Reece Fehr and Gavin Wiens replied for the Aces.


Raiden LeGall stopped 42 shots in the Pembina Valley Hawks 2-1 victory over the Winnipeg Bruins at the Southdale Arena. Jayden Penner and Cedrik Robidoux scored 10 seconds apart late in the second period.


Pembina Valley lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Winnipeg Ice. Marissa Fehr scored in the third period for the Hawks who received a 43-save performance from Kaylee Franz.


The Pembina Valley Twisters dropped a 3-2 decision to the Fort Garry/Fort Rouge Twins. Carter Halamandaris scored the go-ahead goal on the power play with 6:06 left in the third for the Twins. Merek Degraeve and Riley Goertzen replied for the Twisters.


Connor McClennon had a goal and an assist as the Winnipeg Ice beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-1 at Westoba Place. Nolan Ritchie had the lone goal for Brandon. The two teams will again tonight at the newly renovated Wayne Fleming Arena at the Max Bell Centre. It’s the home opener for the Ice who played their first 13 games on the road this season. Winnipeg won 12 of those 13 games.


Blake Wheeler scored 32 seconds into overtime to lift Winnipeg past Arizona 3-2. Cole Perfetti and Mark Scheifele did the goal scoring for the Jets in regulation. David Riitich made 19 saves in net for Winnipeg. The Jets wrap up their three-game road trip Sunday against the Vegas Golden Knights.


Zach Collaros threw touchdown passes to Dalton Schoen and Rasheed Bailey in his one quarter of work as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers won their regular season finale 24-9 over the BC Lions Friday night at IG Field. Brady Oliveria ran for 72 yards and eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark. Mike O’Shea is the first Bombers head coach to guide his team to a 15-win season. Winnipeg finished first in the CFL West at 15-3 and will host the division final in two weeks. The Lions will meet the Calgary Stampeders at BC Place Stadium in the West semifinal next Sunday.
