Zach Collaros threw four touchdown passes as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers bounced the Saskatchewan Roughriders 54-20 in the Banjo Bowl Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd of 33,234 fans at IG Field. Nic Demski caught two touchdown passes while Rasheed Bailey, Dalton Schoen and Brendon O’Leary-Orange also hauled in majors. Quarterback Dakota Prukop had two short yardage touchdowns and backup Dru Brown, who replaced Collaros with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter, also threw a touchdown pass. Marc Liegghio kicked two field goals. Winnipeg scored on nine of 10 drives. The West Division leading Blue Bombers (12-1) will face the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton on Saturday, September 17th. The two-time defending Grey Cup champions have their second bye week of the season after the game against the Tiger-Cats.


The Winkler Flyers exhibition schedule ends today. The Flyers will meet the Selkirk Steelers at the Centennial Arena. Winkler dropped a 4-3 decision to the Steelers Saturday night at the Selkirk Recreational Complex. Matthew Gerke’s powerplay goal 3:52 into overtime won it for the Steelers. Lucas Ens, Xyon Kiemeney and Dalton Andrew did the goal scoring for the Flyers.


Zach Benson had a goal and two assists as the Winnipeg Ice downed the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-1 at RINK Hockey Academy. Evan Friesen and Hayden Moore also scored for the Ice. Matthew Henry had the lone goal for the Wheat Kings. Brandon will wrap up its exhibition schedule with a home-and-home with the Moose Jaw Warriors while the Ice play a pair of games with the Regina Pats.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes season is over. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks plated three runs in the first inning and three more in the seventh en route to a 7-3 victory over the Fish in the third and deciding game of their American Association West Division semifinal at Newman Outdoor Field. Third baseman Ian Sagdal had a two-run homer for the Goldeyes. The RedHawks will meet the Kansas City Monarchs in the West Division final while the Milwaukee Milkmen will take on the Cleburne Railroaders in the East final.
