Six Winnipeg Blue Bombers are 2023 CFL All-Stars and they are running back Brady Oliveira, receiver Dalton Schoen, guard Pat Neufeld, tackle Jermarcus Hardrick, defensive end Willie Jefferson and cornerback Demerio Houston. Oliveira, who is the West Division finalist for Most Outstanding Player and Top Canadian awards, lead the league in rushing with 1,534 yards and 13 touchdowns. Schoen finished with 71 receptions for 1,222 yards and 10 touchdowns. Hardrick, who is the West Division nominee for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, and Neufeld anchored the right side of the Bombers offensive line. Jefferson posted a team-leading 11 quarterback sacks and Houston lead the league seven interceptions. The Blue Bombers meet the B.C. Lions Saturday at IG Field in the West Division final.


Canada’s National Women’s Hockey team lost 3-1 to the United States in game one of the Rivalry Series in Tempe, Arizona. Hilary Knight, Taylor Heise and Alex Carpenter did the goal scoring for the Americans. Brianne Jenner had the lone goal for Canada. Game two goes Saturday in Los Angeles.


Kyle Kurz, Beth Peterson, Ian McMillan and Melissa Gordon finished first in Pool B at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Swift Current. The Manitoba champions defeated Evan Van Amsterdam of Alberta 5-2 and Cameron de Jong of British Columbia 7-3. Team Kurz finished with a 6-0 record will begin play in the Championship Pool today against Tyler Smith of Prince Edward Island and Paul Flemming of Nova Scotia.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball Club and Manitoba Blue Cross announced the team’s downtown ballpark will now be known as Blue Cross Park. The new name is part of a ten-year agreement between the two local organizations.
