The Miller Aces and Mountain Mustangs were winners in the Zone 4 High School Hockey League Wednesday night. Tyson Froese scored twice and Logan Krahn made 28 saves as Miller defeated Carman 3-1. Tyson Tarnick also scored for the Aces who face the defending champion PCI Trojans tonight at Stride Place in Portage. Ryan Orchard had the lone goal for the Cougars. Brett Lesage scored the go-ahead goal with 8:33 left in the third period as Mountain shaded Garden Valley 4-3. Chaz Richard, Gavin Rondeau and Joshua Comte also scored for the Mustangs. Jason Schmirer, Jeff Holomay and Brayden Froese replied for the Zodiacs. 


The Pembina Valley Hawks dropped a 5-3 decision to the Southwest Cougars in Souris. Nate Lodewyks, Carter Campbell and Beau Bannerman did the goal scoring for the Hawks. Pembina Valley netminder Raiden LeGall faced 26 shots. Nicholas Cullen scored with 15 seconds left in the first period to give the Cougars a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes. Southwest would extend their lead to 4-2 after two periods. 


The Brandon Wheat Kings and Winnipeg Ice both won Wednesday night. Carson Bjarnason stopped all 29 shots he faced as Brandon shutout the Kelowna Rockets 3-0. Nate Danielson, Andrei Malyaviin and Nolan Ritchie scored for the Wheat Kings who have four wins and two losses on their eight-game road trip. Conor Geekie and Matthew Savoie each had a goal and an assist in Winnipeg's 4-3 victory over the Vancouver Giants. Owen Pederson and Skyler Bruce also scored for the Ice. 


Neal Pionk scored his second goal of the game 31 seconds into overtime to lift the Winnipeg Jets past the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche 4-3. Sam Gagner and Cole Perfetti with his first of the season also scored for the Jets. Mason Appleton chipped in with two assists. Winnipeg netminder Connor Hellebuyck made 30 saves. The Jets wrap up their three-game road trip tonight when they face the Vegas Golden Knights. 


Team Canada has clinched a playoff berth at the 2022 World Mixed Curling Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland. Skip Jean-Michel Ménard, third Marie-France Larouche, second Ian Belleau and lead Annie Lemay have one round robin game left and are in second place in Group A with a 5-1 record.
