The Prairie Putter Men's Golf League reached the midway point of its season on Monday. Minnewasta and Scotswood Links tied at six points each; Portage downed Carman 8-4 and it was Winkler over Bridges seven-and-a-half points to four-and-a-half.

Entries close today for the 105th Provincial Women's Amateur Golf Championship and the 30th Provincial Men's Mid-Amateur Championship. Both 54-hole stroke play events will be held at the Granite Hills golf course from July 6th to the 8th. Bobbi Uhl of Shilo and Todd Fanning of Niakwa won the 2021 championships at the Niakwa Country Club in Winnipeg. 

Deon Stafford Jr. of the Winnipeg Goldeyes has been voted as the starting catcher for the West Division in the American Association All-Star Game. Stafford is hitting .236 with eight doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI in 33 games played.  The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native has had just 10 stolen base attempts against in 19 games behind the plate (3-for-10, 30%), and has not been charged with a passed ball. Stafford joined the Goldeyes late in 2021, and hit .309 with four home runs and 21 RBI in 27 games. The 2022 American Association All-Star Game is Tuesday, July 12th at Impact Field, home of the Chicago Dogs. The game will feature squads composed from the East and West Divisions.  Dogs’ manager Butch Hobson will manage the East Division, while Joe Calfapietra of the defending champion Kansas City Monarchs will lead the West.

The Winnipeg Jets will play six pre-season games before the start of the 2022-23 NHL season. The Jets open their exhibition schedule with a visit to Edmonton on Sunday, Sept. 25 against the Oilers. The first home date of the calendar features the Ottawa Senators at Canada Life Centre on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Winnipeg then travels to Quebec on Thursday, Sept. 29 where they face the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. The Jets’ pre-season slate is highlighted by their first Season Ticket Member Appreciation Game on Saturday, Oct. 1 vs. Edmonton. Season Ticket Members will have access to exclusive benefits and experiences, including the chance to  sing the national anthem and be a guest PA Announcer (contests for these opportunities and more to follow this summer). There will be one Season Ticket Member grand prize awarded per period, including a trip for two to a 2022-23 regular season road game. Prior to the Oct. 1 game, the Dale Hawerchuk statue will be officially unveiled in a special ceremony in True North Square. The ceremony will include members of the Hawerchuk family, Winnipeg Jets alumni and other special guests. All fans attending the Oct. 1 game will receive a Dale Hawerchuk coin to commemorate the unveiling. Hawerchuk passed away on  August 18, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. The pre-season finishes with a home-and-home against the Calgary Flames: the first game is on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Canada Life Centre, before the Jets travel to Calgary for a Friday, Oct. 7 meeting at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Jan Mysak scored 10:08 into overtime to lift the Ontario Hockey League champion Hamilton Bulldogs past the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champion Shawinigan Cataractes 4-3. The Bulldogs will meet the host Saint John Sea Dogs in the Memorial Cup final Wednesday in New Brunswick.
