Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros and wide receiver Dalton Schoen have been named CFL Top Performers for their work in Saturday’s 43-22 win over the B.C. Lions in Vancouver. Collaros completed 23-of-30 passes for 288 yards with two touchdown strikes to Schoen and a third to Greg Ellingson as the offence racked up 419 yards, including 141 along the ground. Schoen recorded career-high catches (eight) and yards (117) in a two-touchdown performance. Saturday also marked Schoen’s first 100-yard game of his pro career. The 5-0 Blue Bombers face the 4-0 Calgary Stampeders Friday at IG Field. 


Sioux Falls Canaries outfielder Jabari Henry drilled a three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning as the West Division rallied from a 6-4 deficit and beat the East Division 7-6 in the American Association's All-Star game Tuesday night at Impact Field in Chicago. Catcher Deon Stafford Jr. and left-handed pitcher Tasker Strobel  represented the Winnipeg Goldeyes.


The Provincial Junior Men's and Provincial Junior Women's Golf Championships begin today at the St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg. Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend and Clara Peake of Binscarth are the defending champions.


NHL free agency opens today at 11 a.m. and five Winnipeg Jets including Paul Stastny, Markus Phillips, Evgeny Svechnikov, Philippe Desrosiers and Luke Johnson are unrestricted free agents.


As part of its annual review of events and operations, Curling Canada has determined that the Continental Cup will not be staged during the 2022-23 curling season. The event was launched in 2002 in Regina, adopting a Ryder Cup-style format that saw Canadian teams combine to compete against teams from around the world in a variety of curling formats, and was the launching pad for the mixed doubles format that is now contested at the Winter Olympics.


For the second consecutive year the Canadian Lacrosse League will host the IIJL World Junior Championship at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg. The 2022 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship will take place August 8-14 welcoming back a full lineup of six countries, Australia, Canada, Haudenosaunee, Israel, Poland, and the United States competing for a gold medal over thirteen games.
