The Morden Thunder are Zone 4 High School baseball champions. The Thunder defeated the Garden Valley Zodiacs 7-4 in the final of the league tournament Tuesday in Altona. Morden will represent Zone 4 at the Provincial High School Baseball Championship May 30th - June 1st in Reston. The Thunder downed Portage Collegiate 10-3 while GVC shaded the Miller Aces 4-3 in the semifinals. The Zone 4 High School fastpitch tournament takes place today at Rotary Republic of Manitobah Park in Portage la Prairie. The winner will represent Zone 4 at the Provincials later this month in Portage which will be hosted by the PCI Saints. 


The Winnipeg Goldeyes won their home opener Tuesday night at Blue Cross Park. Adam Hall had three hits including a solo home run as the Fish defeated the Chicago Dogs 6-1. Colton Eastman picked up his second victory in as many starts, surrendering one run on three hits in 6.2 innings. Nick Troglrlic-Iverson picked up his second save of the season. He worked the final seven outs and allowed a pair of doubles.


Dylan Cozens scored his second goal of the game shorthanded in overtime as Canada won its preliminary round finale 4-3 over host Czechia at the 2024 World Men's Hockey Championship in Prague. Canada finished first in Group A and will face Slovakia in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The other quarterfinals feature Sweden against Finland; Switzerland will meet Germany and Czechia will take on the United States. 


Sophie Jaques had two goals and Nicole Hensley made 20 saves to record her first-ever PWHL playoff shutout, as Minnesota blanked Boston 3-0 at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell. The best-of-five Walter Cup final is tied at one. Michela Cava opened the scoring for Minnesota. Game three goes Friday in St. Paul.


Santi Bergen and Ehk’thweesoe Moon scored two goals each as the Winkler Storm downed Lucania United FC 5-2 Tuesday night in Winnipeg. Emil Rode also found the back of the net for the Storm who improved to 2-0 in the Manitoba Major Soccer League's 1st Division.
