The ACC Cougars are ACHA Women’s D2 National champions for the second time. Carman’s Simone Turner-Commer and Alecia Simpson of Wawanesa did the goal scoring and goaltender Megan Beswitherick of Austin got the win as Brandon’s Assiniboine Community College defeated Dakota College-Bottineau 2-1 in the championship game Saturday in St. Louis. Turner-Commer was named the tournament MVP. Former Pembina Valley Hawks defenseman Cora Fijala of Manitou is also on the Cougars roster.

 

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League playoff pairings are set. The Winkler Flyers will face the Winnipeg Blues, the Steinbach Pistons meet the Selkirk Steelers, the Dauphin Kings take on the Swan Valley Stampeders and the Virden Oil Capitals face the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in round one.

 

Daniel Hauser stopped 19 shots and Skyler Bruce had two goals and an assist as the Winnipeg Ice shutout the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-0. Carson Lambos, Chase Wheatcroft and Jack Finley also scored the Ice. The Wheat Kings have lost six in a row.

 

The Manitoba Moose point-streak has reached a season high eight games. Cole Maier had a goal and an assist as Manitoba downed the Iowa Wild 5-2. Simon Lundmark, Nicholas Jones, Bobby Lynch and Mikey Eyssimont also scored for the Moose. Manitoba netminder Evan Cormier made 27 saves.
