Winkler Police report that a 31-year-old male driver from Steinbach will be charged following a vehicle collision in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 4th. 

Emergency crews were dispatched to a report of a collision on Chevy Drive where the driver of the vehicle had reportedly fled the scene. 

When officers arrived, they found an unoccupied grey Honda CRV on a front lawn where it had collided with a power transformer. 

Witnesses provided a description of the driver, who was quickly located nearby. 

Police report that the driver was found to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest for impaired driving. 

In a written report of the account, Winkler Police reported that “The driver cooperated with police and samples of his breath determined his blood alcohol concentration to be above the legal limit of 80 mg%.” 

As a result of the investigation, police report that the driver from Steinbach will be charged with Operating a Conveyance while Impaired and with Operating a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80 mg%. He was released on an Undertaking to appear in Morden Provincial Court on November 8, 2022.
