A brutal war, a civil war in Russia and famine had forced many to make a hard decision... leave, or stay and pray that peace would return. During the violent upheaval in Russia, many lost their homes, land and livestock. Orphans and incomplete families arrived in Canada, traumatized, sick and some undernourished, but getting into Canada was only the beginning. Archivist Conrad Stoesz from the Mennonite Heritage Archives in Winnipeg tells us all about the struggles of the migration, travel debt and Secretary Treasurer Daniel P. Enns on Episode Five of Still Speaking.

You can listen to Still Speaking Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays live at 12:30pm.
