A 19-year-old is facing charges after a lengthy fraudulent gift card scheme was revealed.

Morden Police Service reports a local business owner alerted them to an employee who had been stealing gift cards and fraudulently adding credit to the cards. The employee was confronted and subsequently fired.

However, the police investigation, with assistance from the company, led to the arrest of the employee and the recovery of more stolen gift cards. The investigation revealed the accused had been stealing for several months and the total value of fradulent credit exceeded $60,000.

As a result, the 19-year-old from the RM of Stanley has been charged with fradulently obtaining credit and will be appearing in Morden Provincial court this month.
