RCMP are investigating an abduction that occurred in Southeast Manitoba Sunday morning.

Investigators say a 16-year-old girl was walking her dog along Ste Annes Road, southeast of Landmark when a male driver in a pick-up truck stopped and offered her a ride. When she declined the male driver forced the girl into the vehicle.

However, the victim was able to escape as the truck slowed down near a dead-end on road 45 North, about four kilometres east of Landmark.

At approximately 7:20 a.m Sunday, the teenager made her way to the nearest residence and called police. Police say the victim sustained minor injuries.

While extensive patrols were undertaken the vehicle was not located. The suspect is described as a clean-cut male, 18-22 years old, five feet, eight inches tall with a light brown complexion, short black hair and a round face. The truck is described as a black, older- model 4-door pick-up truck with a dusty exterior and had possibly been repainted.

RCMP Sergeant Paul Manaigre says this is an extremely serious situation and they are doing everything they can to track down the vehicle. He asks anyone who made have noticed a suspicious vehicle and driver in the area that matches the descriptions to immediately contact police.
