More information has been released regarding the case of COVID-19 announced Sunday in Manitoba.

Dr. Brent Roussin is Chief Provincial Public Health Officer. He says a temporary foreign worker, employed within the Southern Health region tested positive. It was travel related.

“We wanted to make sure people were aware it was travel related,” stresses Dr. Roussin. “To ensure that our reopen strategy keeps moving forward.”

Dr. Roussin says all of the appropriate actions were taken, including self-isolation. He notes there was very limited contact.

“There is no risk to the public in any other way,” says Dr. Roussin.

He says public health has completed its investigation, noting it would announce any potential risk if there was one.

Dr. Roussin says there is a balance between privacy of this individual and risk to the public, but at this time, no further details will be provided.
