Provincial Justice Critic Kelvin Goertzen shares the frustration of Winkler Police Chief Rick Hiebert.

The Chief spoke out this week after a judge in Morden imposed a fine of only $150.00 for possession of crystal meth.

Goertzen says while the province is taking a hard line on the drug, the lenient sentence sends a different message.

He notes while the amount of the drug may have been small in this case, any amount is serious when it comes to meth.

Goertzen adds the sentence sends a message to police that meth possession is not recognized as a serious crime by the justice system.
