Riley Unger of Plum Coulee and Matthew Loewen of Winkler just missed out on qualifying for Manitoba's Willingdon Cup team. Unger, who plays out of the Southwood Golf & Country Club in Winnipeg, finished the 2010 Manitoba Men's Amateur Golf Championship at Breezy Bend in fifth place while Loewen was sixth. Unger was two-over par 74 yesterday and had a 72-hole total of 289. Loewen was 76 and finished at 292. Peter More captured his first Men's Amateur title. More, who has won three Provincial Match Play championships and one Provincial Junior title, fired a final round one-under par 71 at his home course and finished at nine-under par 279. Joining More on the Willingdon Cup team are club-mates Garth Collings and Jesse Skelton and Scott Markham of Niakwa. Collings and Skelton finished at 287 while Markham was 288. The Canadian Men’s Amateur Golf Championship will take place from August 10th-15th in London, Ontario. Tyson Ehnes of Morden, who also plays out of Southwood, was 76 and finished in a tie for 23rd place with a 303 total. Kevin Giesbrecht of Carman was 72 and finished at 307. Matt Dodds of Carman was 80 and finished at 316.
