One of the province's largest pork producers is urging the industry to voice its concerns over the N.D.P.'s moratorium on hog barn construction and expansion.

La Broquerie based Hytek has sent a letter to stakeholders asking them to send comments directly to Premier Gary Doer and Conservation Minister Stan Struthers.

Co-owner Denis Vielfaure feels the hog sector has been unfairly targeted.

He adds the industry has been charged with a crime, and the penalty is the temporary pause even though producers feel they have done nothing wrong.

The provincial government has invited comment on the announcement, with the deadline to voice concerns this Friday at 4:30 pm.
