2006 marks the year of the war bride in Canada.

It has been 60 years since the first ship pulled into the harbour in Nova Scotia carrying the women and children Canadian soldiers fell in love with overseas.

Alma Carson of Roland was one of those women.

She travelled from England to be with her fiance.

Carson says initially landing in Canada for the first time was overwhelming, but she quickly boarded the train to Winnipeg.

Carson adds Remembrance Day is a very important day and affects so many people.

She says in all the years she was married to her husband she never heard him complain about what he had to do overseas.
