The Winkler Warriors capped off an undefeated season by winning the Tiger Hills U15 Girls Minor Softball League championship.

“It feels great,” noted Warriors head coach Myron Dyck. “We have such a wonderful group of talented girls that worked hard through the season. The girls all connected so well and had so much fun along the way. As coaches/parents we’re all very proud of the girls.”

The Warriors went 8-0 in league play and then reeled off three straight wins in the playoffs.

Winkler defeated Rock Lake 18-0; shaded the Winkler Wildcats 4-3 and then outscored the Carman Cardinals 9-7 in the gold medal game.

“The key to the success was the girls did their best to be positive and respectful no matter the outcome, to do their best and have as much fun as possible along the way,” remarked coach Dyck. “The girls were really challenged with this in the semifinal against the other Winkler team. We were down by three runs going into the final inning, tension was high, game faces on and then the sticks lit up and the rest was history. We won 4-3. The final game being more relaxed, the girls did what they know best. Great pitching, fielding and hitting.”

“I was super proud of these young ladies' accomplishments,” added coach Dyck. “This does not happen too often, having an undefeated season.” As a coach, I am very thankful for the great assistant coaches, manager and supportive parents.”
