The R.M. of Stanley will be one of the most affected customers,  thanks to the Pembina Valley Water Co-op water rate increase.

The Public Btilities Board recently approved a one-dollar increase,  bringing the cost to $6.40 per 1000 gallons.

Reeve Art Petkau says they have no choice but to pass on the increase to tax payers.

He says their mark up on water costs is low to begin with, so they cannot afford to consume the added expense.

Petkau says Stanley's tax payers won't be happy with the increased costs.

However, he says in this case, there's not really anything that can be done about it.

The new rates take effect October 1st.
